, and C>0\, such that every convex\nset of volume 1 contains at least one
point of Y and at most C? This\ndiscrete geometry problem was posed by G
owers in 2000\, and it is a special\ncase of an open problem posed by Danz
er in 1965. I will present two proofs\nthat answers Gowers' question with
a NO. The first approach is dynamical\;\nwe introduce a dynamical system a
nd classify its minimal subsystems. This\nclassification in particular yie
lds the negative answer to Gowers'\nquestion. The second proof is direct a
nd it has nice applications in\ncombinatorics. The talk will be accessible
