lem and a solution to a related problem of Gowers\n\nIs there a point set
Y in R^d\, and C>0\, such that every convex\nset of volume 1 contains at l
east one point of Y and at most C? This\ndiscrete geometry problem was p
osed by Gowers in 2000\, and it is a special\ncase of an open problem pose
d by Danzer in 1965. I will present two proofs\nthat answers Gowers' quest
ion with a NO. The first approach is dynamical\;\nwe introduce a dynamical
system and classify its minimal subsystems. This\nclassification in parti
cular yields the negative answer to Gowers'\nquestion. The second proof is
direct and it has nice applications in\ncombinatorics. The talk will be a
