ents & Seminars\, SeminarsLocation: \n\nRoss 63\n\n\nTitle: The Morris mod
el\nAbstract: Douglass Morris was a student of Keisler\, and in 1970 he an
nounced the \nfollowing result: It is consistent with ZF that for every \a
lpha\, there is a set \nA_\alpha which is the countable union of countable
sets\, and the power set of \nA_\alpha can be partitioned into \aleph_\al
pha non-empty sets.\nThe result was never published\, and survived only in
the form of a short \nannouncement and an exercise in Jech's 'The Axiom o
f Choice'. We go over the \nproof of this theorem using modern tools\, as
well as some of its odd \nimplications about 'size' and countability.\n\n
