Title: On the spectral gap of Cayley graphs for the group of affine transformations
Abstract: Joint work with P. Varju.
One of the most important open questions regarding spectral gap of Cayley graphs is the dependence of the gap on the choice of generators.
We consider the Cayley graph of a semidirect product of SL(d, F_p) and F_p^d, and start with a given set of generators S for SL(d, F_p). We show that for any lift of S to a set S' of generators of the semidirect product the resulting Cayley graph has a spectral gap that depends only on the spectral gap on SL(d, F_p) and the size of the generating set.
