The moduli spaces of stable maps of curves to projective spaces play a prominent role in symplectic and algebraic geometry, and they can be arbitrarily singular. Desingularizations for genus 1 and 2 have been obtained from various perspectives. In this talk, I will present the motivation and background of one of them and discuss its possible generalizations to higher genera.
