Title: "Inverse mean curvature flows"

Abstract:
Hypersurfaces moving in normal direction with speed given by the inverse of their (positive) mean curvature satisfy a non-linear parabolic system that on the one hand has short-time smoothing properties while possibly developing singularities in the long run. Monotonicity properties of the flow lead to geometric inequalities, some of which are relevant as energy inequalities in General Relativity. The lecture explains the basic properties of the flow and describes new results for weak and classical solutions of the flow. This lecture will be self contained and can be followed without having attended the previous Gordon lecture.
