Abstract:
The purpose of the talks is to give an account of basic nonstandard analysis theory and present a nonstandard proof of the spectral theorem for unbounded self-adjoint operators by Isaac Goldbring. We will start by giving a formal axiomatic framework to nonstandard analysis, go over several examples, and show how to realize the axioms using ultrafilters. The second part will be devoted to the nonstandard proof of the spectral theorem.
