Title: Stratified topology and arithmetic
Abstract: Half a century ago, Mumford and Mazur proposed a deep connection between arithmetic and low-dimensional topology. In the past

stratified topology and field theories have started to be adapted to the
study of arithmetic. In this talk, we discuss the origins of this story
as well as some of the recent advances.
