Title: p-adic dynamics; a non-archimedean version of x2 x3

Abstract: The reference in the title of my talk is to two unresolved questions relating to a pair of actions,  x -> ax and  x -> bx, on the 1-torus T = R/Z.
p-adic dynamics replaces the 1-torus T with the ring of p-adic integers, and we deal with the actions  x -> [x/a]  and  x -> [x/b], which are well defined on the ab-adic integers. We find analogous questions arise in this context. However on account of a richer algebraic structure, a bit more can be said in this "non-archimedean" setup.  Moreover some of the answers would carry over from one setup to the other.
