Title: Independence relations on homogeneous structures
Abstract: Let M be a homogeneous structure (e.g. the Rado graph, or the rationals as a linear order). We will discuss how independence relations on M can be used to prove things about Aut(M): what its normal subgroups are, universality, the existence of a dense conjugacy class, and whether it has a subgroup with a sharply k-homogeneous action. We will mostly focus on the normal subgroup results. There will be plenty of examples (including more exotic structures such as the semigeneric tournament or generic n-hypertournament).
