Title: Models of Elliptic Curves

Abstract:

Given an elliptic curve E over an algebraically closed valued field K we give a geometric description of the generically stable subgroups of E; we further show the existence of a maximal such group.

More specifically, given a definable generically stable subgroup H of E, we show the existence of an integral separated smooth group scheme \mathcal{E} over O_K with generic fiber E satisfying that \mathcal{E}(O)=H.

If time permits, we might also say a few words about general abelian varieties.

My plan is to give the basic notions needed to state these results and give some outline of the proof. Knowledge in basic algebraic geometry (and algebraic groups) will be assumed but not of general group schemes
