Title: Diophantine approximation of morphic Laurent series

Abstract: The function field analogue of Diophantine approximation studies approximations of Laurent series by rational functions. This problem is tightly connected to determinants of Hankel matrices, which are matrices whose rows are shifts of a fixed sequence. I will focus on the case of morphic sequences, which are sequences formed by repeating a fixed substitution rule. The discussion will be guided by examples such as the characteristic function of the set of powers of 2, the Fibonacci word, the regular-paperfolding sequence, and the Thue-Morse sequence.
